NIDA-Pakistan with the support of Welthungerhilfe (WHH) funded by BMZ is implementing “Building Resilience to Improve Nutrition (BRIN)” project in one tehsil Pattan Kohistan Lower.
The project aims “To contribute to the eradication of Poverty and hunger in tehsil Pattan (Lower Kohistan) for a resilient society where women and children are optimally nourished”. This project was designed after detailed needs assessment of the project areas augmented with facts & figures of the national nutrition survey of Pakistan 2018, Multi-Sectorial Integrated Nutrition Strategy KP, Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey MICS - 2018, National Nutrition Survey 2018, Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) 2017 & Integrated Context Analysis (ICA) 2017.
NIDA-Pakistan is implementing this project in close collaboration with the Directorate and District Agriculture department, Livestock Department, Education department, Health Department, Sun-Unit KP, SUN-CSA and other key stakeholders.
Main activities of the project focuses on Food & Nutrition Security and livelihood interventions including indigenous food preservation and processing, quality vegetable production, vocational skills for youth, enterprise development, crop diversification, livestock restocking, health and nutrition education. The project is also paving ways to build market linkage through construction/rehabilitation of roads for easy market access. Moreover, protection of agricultural land from degradation through sustainable farming practices, Irrigation channels, provision of clean drinking water through Drinking water Supply schemes (DWSS) are the other embedded activities.
